Alternatively, I have seen apostrophes (or other high floating marks) for thousands: 3’141’592,6535. Though a quick skim over Wikipedia suggests this is mainly used for handwritten numbers only.
I like it as it allows for the extra separators to be used behind the decimal separator as well, without making it hard for your eyes to find the decimals: 3’141’592,653’5.
